“Hang on a second,” Mulder says, holding up a hand to intervene. “You know that she’s been in her thirties for thirty years?” He has a light in his eyes, that dangerous glint that means that he’s set on some terrifying nonsense that’s about to get them both killed or arrested.
Mills’s eyes narrow. “Are you calling me old?”
“Sixty is the new thirty,” Swan offers helpfully, smirking at Mulder and wincing when Mills elbows her. It’s like looking at a mirror image of themselves for a moment, and Scully sighs, suddenly certain that they won’t be making it out of this town before nightfall.

Summary
Zeff doesn’t believe for one minute his scrawny little Eggplant, who only weighs ninety pounds soaking wet, really managed to cook up a wealth of frozen fish to eat entirely on his lonesome the first time it happens. But he lets it slide anyway; and the second time too, and the third, until it becomes a regular thing, going on for a couple of months. Not every morning, but at least two or three times a week, Zeff notices a missing tray or empty box, and double checks his inventory to confirm yet another selection of meat has up and vanished.
Clearly, Eggplant’s cooking and feeding the stuff to someone, and just as clearly doesn’t want to come clean about it.
(In later hindsight, Zeff supposes he can understand why.)

He gulped, then took a deep breath and squared his shoulders. “Look, uh, Aang, and Zuko- there- there aren’t any southern waterbenders anymore. And. There haven’t been any airbenders either, not in a hundred years, when Sozin’s Comet kinda kickstarted the war.”
The baby dragon made an unhappy squeak as its owner staggered backwards to drop onto his butt in the snow.
