Summary
Peter Parker has gotten used to losing people.
After a spell erased him from the lives of everyone he loved, being Spider-Man was one of the few things he had left. Then his mutated DNA started changing again, a troubled teenage girl somehow became his responsibility, and getting shot should have been the least complicated part of his week.
Except something is wrong.
Peter can't explain the strange instincts creeping into his thoughts, why Jean's safety suddenly feels more important than his own, or why every part of him is screaming that something is missing.
Naturally, Peter blames the spider DNA.
