    Will flushed as Richie’s eyes, magnified by his lenses, very obviously raked over him, like he was trying to study or analyze him. If he wasn’t feeling so scrutinized he’d be entertained by how obvious it must be anytime Richie looked at anything. It was like his glasses exposed him rather than shielded him. He looked almost wooden now, like he had been startled too, his eyes widening and widening impossibly more, making Will subconsciously worry he’d fall into them and get lost, until a little sigh-like sound punched out of Richie’s chest.

    “Whoa”

    After the last two years of suffering and inter-dimensional threats, the only thing Will wanted was to spend a nice summer with his friends. Too bad they were too busy with their new relationships. With Dustin now away for summer camp, he dreaded the endless afternoons of fifth-wheeling to come.

    After everything that happened last summer, Richie's mother thought it was best if he visited family for a while. Anything to get him out of a town that was clearly getting to him, even if Richie didn't think she knew why. He dreaded being away from the only people who could understand.

    They could have never expected each other.
