The new semester started on a grey day and Casey did not mind.
She was meeting her class at the Gladys Conservatory beside the Philadelphia Zoo. For the rest of the term, she would be working on a final project for her botany class.
But then she met Barry. And Dennis. Then her apartment flooded. And did she mention her uncle John was still looking for her after she ran away from home? Barry invited her to live with them. And she met all of the Alters. And she started to get closer to Dennis. And then the Beast showed up and so did Kevin?
Casey begins to take charge of her own life and unravel the mystery of 23 (24?) other people. They all wonder:
What is a human life?
What does it mean to be human?
And what must you be willing to give to live as one? -

Chloe was just going to a party. Life had been dull lately, and she was looking for a bit of excitement.
She didn't expect to be kidnapped, and certainly didn't expect to fall in love. But, well, it certainly was exciting.
The Universe really does work in mysterious ways. Maybe she should have been more specific.POVs switch mostly between Chloe, Dennis, Patricia and The Beast as they're the main pairings.

Summary
Kevin Wendell Crumb had his story. David Dunn had his story; both were part of one of the many tragic schemes of Mr. Glass, but what about the other mass murders of Mr. Glass? If he created The beast and The Overseer, could he had made others?
After losing both of her parents in a plane crash, Eclipsa and her sisters are left orphaned. Placed in the hands of their grandmother, like Kevin, they are abused beyond measure. Now an adult, the deep scars of abuse follow her. Haunting her like shadows. Using her pain as fuel she enters the police academy, where she climbs the latter to Captain. Vowing to protect her community and those who are suffering, she takes back control. After the many robberies and muggings lead her to the Philadelphia Zoo, she has no choice but to reside there for further investigation. Where she meets Kevin, an interesting man that seems to change moods like the weather. Following their embarrassing first encounter, she tries to make amends. Now stationed around the zoo, she sees more of the compelling man. Could they be friends? Could they find similarities between each other? But why was he staring at her so intently? And when did his blue eyes become so mesmerizing?

Dennis and the rest of the System are on the run, and The Horde continue to do what it does best--feed The Beast. Barry seeks Kevin, but will he convince Kevin to rejoin the System in time before The Beast plants its claws into him and they become inseparable?
