While I was reading one of them, a novella called A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, I found a note. It was just after I finished reading the part where probably the only worthy Targaryen died. Not gonna lie, I was kind of sad (and probably a little too invested in the story) but that all changed when I saw what was written on it.
Save them and you may go home. Fail and you will die here.

Aerion Targaryen was a spoiled, borderline crazy young man. He did not care for anything but his pleasure. He enjoyed drinking until the voices in his head were silenced, until he felt numb. He was not liked, much less loved.
Duncan Tall was a perfect young man. He was gentle, honest, with big puppy eyes that gave him a soft approachable look (even if his size could be a little intimidating). He worked hard to help his community and his friends. He dreamed of building the family he never had, and everyone knew he would have that someday. Of course he would, because Duncan was loved by everyone who knew him.
Aerion Targaryen and Duncan Tall were nothing alike, but Edric Sand and Duncan may have been.
(Or: Aerion is running from his past to build a new life with his baby, Maegor, when he meets Duncan who cannot stand by when he senses someone in need of help.)

Summary
After three months of Dunk and Eggs traveling under the bright, wide skies manages to pass, the prince is recognized and informally captured by one of the knights. They are dragged back to Summerhall where Maekar, thanks to Aegon's insistence, spares Dunk's life. Instead of killing the hedge knight for, allegedly, kidnapping his son once again, ser Duncan the Tall is made to follow the original idea the prince proposed back at the tourney.
It will take lots of adjusting and overthinking for Dunk to fully grasp the situation and what horrors lie before him on his unknown, twisting path.
All of that happenes while Aerion is banished into one of the Free Cities, Lys, and has the worst time of his life.

Maekar is furious and scared and taking it out on everyone in reach. While the camp moves on like it always does, the three of them get stuck in the aftermath, in promises that weren’t meant to be made, and in the kind of bond you don’t come out of unchanged.i’m terrible at both tags and summaries, but i think i managed to make something decent 😅
