Summary
Jason Todd died, and although the Lazarus Pit brought him back it also erased his soulmarks, leading him to believe his family no longer loved him. He was never quite able to shake the insecurity of being the street kid turned trust fund baby and relied on the soulmarks as tangible proof that he was loved and a part of the Wayne family. Pit rage and Talia al Ghul's manipulations push him further into his feelings of anger, betrayal, and abandonment. He returns to Gotham believing himself to be loved and mourned by no one, but determined to make Crime Alley safer for kids like his younger self or die trying. However, he didn't plan for his family's interference (or that of a special little fanboy from his past). Angst and hijinks ensue, and canon can take a hike because I refuse to let Jason be the sad angry Robin and take it out on Tim.

The one mistake Bruce made was finding a kid with parents, so he couldn’t adopt him. He found someone who wasn’t an orphan, and it was what gave Jason the perfect opening. He’d been watching, stalking Tim for weeks now, pretty much since he’d first gotten back to Gotham. The boy lived with his parents, though they were gone often on business trips. He seemed fine, and happy without them being home, which had only confused and angered Jason more. Who likes when their parents aren’t around? Does he even know how much Jason begged for Willis and Catherine to be present and around?

He slammed on the breaks, pulling over on the side of the highway. He yanked his helmet off, and opened the door just in time to throw up right outside his door. Even if the original way of things included hurting his family. Making mistakes he would forever regret and never be able to make up for. Become a presence that brought a lot of hurt with it.
Even if he had spent countless nights in his bed, thinking about changing everything from the beginning.
The first and most important rule to time-travel was not to change anything.
So, of course, Jason elected to ignore that rule and change everything.
