Summary
Magneto's story had tragic overtones from the very beginning. Now that he, Charles, and the remaining mutants were hiding from the Sentinels, he deeply regretted many of the decisions he had made. However, an unexpected opportunity arose: Kitty, thanks to her ability, had the chance to send Logan back in time. All this to ensure that the Sentinels program had never been created.
Moments before sending Logan back in time, the Professor changes his mind, stating that the problem didn't begin in 1973 at all, but much, much earlier. The Professor points to 1962, when mutants terrified the entire world with their stunts in Cuba. Before Logan sets off, Magneto asks him to save not only the world but also all those who had senselessly lost their lives.
Secretly believing that if it weren't for the events in Cuba, he and Charles would never have parted ways.
