Summary
Nikolai Gogol only wanted three things in life:
1. Not dying of embarrassment on his first day of high school in Russia.
2. Learning Russian without sounding like an idiot.
3. Not falling for the purple-eyed boy who helped him pick up his backpack when it decided to commit suicide in the middle of the hallway.
Spoiler: he got none of them.

Summary
There was a world where Nikolai was happy. A normal world, with snow, with kisses under the streetlights, with a Fyodor who looked at him as if he were the only thing that mattered. That world no longer exists.
He wakes up on an unknown rooftop. The wind smells of smoke. The sky has no stars. And in his hands, pressed against his chest, is a severed hand. Fyodor's hand. He recognizes it by the mole, by the long fingers that so many times tangled in his hair, by the pale skin he kissed so many times.
He doesn't know how he got there or why he's in a body that isn't his own. He only knows that Fyodor is dead, and that he killed him. Not in this world, but the memories are relentless: a war, a white prison, two capsules, a macabre game, an antidote, a death. Now he carries the hand of the love of his life as punishment for his crime.
This is a book about a Nikolai from a normal world who needs love even if it comes from the wrong monster. About a Fyodor who discovers he can feel.
