Summary
Darius readjusts his hand to curl more comfortably around Hunter’s. He feels sick at how small the boy’s hand is in his. It hits him hard sometimes, knowing that there’s a whole child growing up in this castle, a place in which to Darius, functions with little differences to an actual cult. It’s disturbing how well the boy with his mentor’s face and loose baby teeth can regurgitate coven propaganda word for word.
He doesn’t care, though. He shouldn’t, and he doesn’t. He hates the child, and plus, there’s no use worrying about something that’s already dead.
“My room is this way!” Hunter says.
And yet, Darius continues to follow him.
He’s not doing a very good job at sticking to his morals, now is he?
Or: Darius doesn't know how to feel about the Emperor's nephew.

Summary
The child quietly snakes his arm around hers and hugs it again while they walk. She doesn’t want to pull away, but she knows she has to. She’s a healthcare professional, so there needs to be some degree of distance here. If she enables the warm gestures, she’ll be tempted to hug him, and the next thing she knows, she’ll be taking him home in a shoebox and putting both their lives in danger.
Or: Hettie wishes she could do more for the little boy who sneaks off to visit her clinic at night.

Summary
“Oh my god, Hunter. This is so bad,” Luz says.
“Yeah, well, everything about me is bad, so.”
And it’s true. He’s been bad the second the came out of the ground. Maybe Belos made him this way on purpose (he’ll always be a thing, first and foremost), but there’s fundamentally something so disgusting about him that forces him to have to kick and scream just to be noticed by anyone. It’s pathetic how he has to give up every bit of his stolen body and artificial soul to make people stay, but that’s just his life. It’s how it’s been, and how it always will be.
Or: Learning to live without Belos is hard.

Summary
To Hunter, the concept of celebrating his birthday is revolting.
Only Camila and his therapist can piece together the reason why. In his respective conversations with them about his birthday plans, he can only manage to offer snippets of truth wrapped in soft, padded euphemisms. By the downturn in his therapist’s lip and the clenching of Camila’s hands into fists by her sides, he can take a wild guess and say that they can understand the words he’s not saying.
His friends, on the other hand, are a different story.
Or: Hunter and the mortifying ordeal of being known.

Summary
This gentle exploration is nowhere in the realm of what he knows sex to be, but he finds that he doesn’t mind. Just being close to her and taking their time figuring out what they both like is appealing to him. He feels like he’s twenty, not eight, and he adores every second of it.
He leans in for a deep kiss. It’s slow and clumsy, considering Willow’s never done anything like this before, but he finds it endearing. If he closes his eyes and pretends hard enough, this experience can be his first time, too.
Or: Willow's first sexual experience. Hunter's thousandth sexual experience, but for all that matters, his first, too.

Summary
“I’m fine, I’m just…I’m really being good for you? And you love me?” He asks. He hates how his voice cracks, but he has to know.
Willow pulls him into her lap and wraps her arms around his lanky body. He rests his head against her collarbone. Willow has all of his body language memorized by now, as does he with hers. He has a feeling she can tell he’s feeling a lot more insecure than usual.
“You’re the best for me. You’re my Hunter, and I’ll love you forever and ever.” She grins and kisses him on the forehead.
Or: Kink exploration and trauma recovery, featuring Willow and Hunter.
