Summary
Zuko lived quietly.
When he was allowed to eat dinner, he ate silently. And on the few occasions he was called to eat at the dinner table, he ate like a puppet, hollow and cold.
He walked around the house on edge, tiptoeing through the halls, careful not to make a single sound. Sometimes, it didn’t work.or. Zuko's life is riddled with abuse. Sokka saves him, both literally and metaphorically.

Summary
Prince Zuko died 2 years ago.

Sokka thought he knew that humanity was capable of unspeakable things the day the Fire Nation took his mother from him.
But only when he and Team Avatar (It’ll catch on soon he swears) come across a scarred boy barely older than Sokka deep beneath Lake Laogai, does he realize that he hasn’t even seen a fraction of the world’s horrors.

This is HEAVILY inspired by r_astra's "i'll find my own way down" series. That was peak fanfiction and i recommend it so much!

Summary
They sent a child. They wanted him to marry a child the same age as his own kids. What in the name of Tui and La- How dare the? How dare they!?
OR
The 100-year war is more of a 95-year war, end earlier for reasons that don't matter right now. After a few years of negotiations, Firelord Azulon wants a marriage alliance between the Chief of the Southern Water Tribe and a member of the Fire Nation royal family. No one really wants this, but after five years, Hakoda can tell his people are tired and want to move on, so he's willing to do what it takes to make peace happen. That is until the Fire Nation sends him a child to marry, and there is no way in hell that is happening.
Based on a Tumblr post I can't get out of my head.

Summary
“So…” the female guard whispered, “Do you know what really happened in the war room?”
The three other guards leaned in around the lunch table and then they all looked towards Sokka expectantly. It accrued to the water tribe boy that the story of the banished Prince was practically a legend in the Fire Nation. A “ghost” story used to scare children. It’d be weird if Sokka got up and left now. They’d rightly assume that he sympathized with their hated Prince...
He wanted to leave. But...
He didn’t have a choice, did he?
Basically: Sokka hears the story of how Zuko got his scar from some guards during the Boiling Rock and he doesn’t know how to deal with this information.
