Tony’s always had a complicated relationship with his shifted form. Which, considering the general consensus on shifters is that your shift is the window to your soul, insinuates some uncomfortable things about how Tony views himself, but he chooses not to dwell on that for too long.

And in that next second that curl of darkness inside of her sits up and decides that this, that Howard’s continued cruelty and abuse, will no longer be allowed.
Toni licks the blood from her now too sharp teeth before she plants her hands on the floor in front of her and pushes herself back up onto her feet.
This time when Howard lashes out at her Toni ducks low to avoid the blow.
Crouched on the hall floor, sharp nails digging into the dark wood beneath her, Toni hisses, takes a moment to calculate, and then she leaps.

It started with the gold.
Bucky wrote it off as some time of rich person excess, the way Tony would carefully inlay gold in everything that he made for the team. Natasha’s Bites, Clint’s arrows, even Thor’s magical hammer received thin gold lines in their handles. Bruce’s Hulk pants had gold threads and the strap of Steve’s shield was embroidered with the same.
