Summary
Rural South Korea.
Mingi and Jongho grew up together, sharing dreams of fleeing to Seoul and starting their life there, only the both of them, leaving behind all of their family dramas, pressures, and problems, but the plans were cut short.
They were not the kids they used to be. High school was over, and Jongho had to be an adult, an example for his little brother, and fulfill the promise made by his parents a few years ago, but having Mingi close, gravitating around him, didn’t make things easier.
They’ve already lost everyone: Hongjoong left to live in the US, Seonghwa was trying his career in Europe, Yunho was in Japan, Yeosang was just gone without notice, San went back to where he was born, the small city by the sea, and Wooyoung was in Seoul; and now they were losing themselves too.
One of their last meetings was painful, and they were prepared to have their last meetings again and again and again, until they finally could be together.

When Jongho inherits a boathouse from his late, estranged father, he decides to move to his town and attempt to make something of the circumstances. Once there, the colourful floating restaurant across the river catches his eye, and even more so does the guy his age who runs the place.
Jongho's pretty sure his daily trips to the restaurant count as market research and, well, getting to know Mingi more each day is just a bonus. A tall, pretty, giggly bonus.//
All I've got to say is I really hope someone picks this up 😭 The desire I have to see Jongho pretend at "checking out the competition" when all he's really interested in is Mingi is insatiable. In my mind, this would be a summer to autumn story, something quite atmospheric, or anchored in the landscape (rivers, bayous, colourful boathouses and floating restaurants, etc.) When I got the idea I thought of Mingi's character living with his grandparents and working at the restaurant to help out. Of course you can do whatever you want with any of this.
I would like this to have a happy end for them, but I think if you wanted, there could be some serious things explored (like Jongho's relationship with his dad, or lack of one, being in a town you feel you don't belong in, and also the inherent scariness of something blooming between two people.) If you're so inclined, there's plenty of opportunity for explicit stuff too. Hey, who am I to deny the pull these two feel towards each other?

Choi Jongho, a grad student completing his studies on a remote island, had very little to his name: the small hut he rented, his laptop- useless without internet, his books, materials, and the small orange tree that grew out back.
Jongho found the oranges to be a treat, often indulging himself after a long day of studying; they were one of the only treats he could seem to get his hands on in the middle of nowhere.
He wasn’t the only one who was eating them, though, an observation he made when he saw the fruit on his tree depleting at an alarming rate.
Filled with curiosity, he sets a trap, which ends up catching a creature larger (and hotter??) than he could ever imagine.

"In a movie," Mingi starts, quiet and wistful and a little shy, "this is where we'd kiss."
By all accounts, he's correct. If life was a romcom—or any sort of romantic anything, frankly—this would be the moment of their first kiss. Half-strangers, half-friends, a few hours into knowing each other and outright drawn to one another. A moment full of dramatic irony and heavy, universe-rending meaning. It'd be something timid, new. Someone would sigh breathily against the other's mouth, and they'd part regretfully just in time to watch the meteor shower rain across the sky.
Except the thing is that they don't live in a movie, and Jongho's more than a bit too practical to get wrapped up in a cute guy he met on a train and has only known for a few hours. He isn't, however, too practical to deny himself the pleasure of kissing a pretty guy at a meteor shower.
Especially one as sweet as his present company.

When Mingi found out that Jongho was still a virgin, he took it upon himself to set up a blind date with a woman from his hometown. They met up, the date went well, and a few weeks later he took her back to his house. When he attempted to sleep with her, his mind went fuzzy and the only thing he could picture was his best friend Mingi.
He wished the woman lying next to him was Mingi, wished it was his cologne that he was smelling on her neck instead of her perfume. He couldn't follow through with his plan and put a new plan in motion.
When Mingi asked about how their relationship was going, Jongho made up excuses and hinted at what he wanted to do instead. What could possibly go wrong?

after some catastrophe (earthquake, tsunami, apocalypse if you want to go that route), private investigator/"finder" mingi is hired to find missing person, choi jongho. jongho's family thinks that he's missing because of the catastrophe and that they got separated. except jongho left hours before disaster struck and he'd been planning to leave for some time.
jongho's reason for leaving is up to you. it does take mingi a bit to find him since jongho has been covering his tracks extremely well. jongho has to plead with him to not tell his family where he is - "it's for their own good". up to you if mingi actually listens: is it worth it to turn him in to his family for the reward or to allow him to live his life the way he wants.
