Summary
That night Lucerys had snuck up to the library. He was restless and still upset about the confrontation at King’s Landing and the library felt safe. He had read by the moonlight, curled up with his book when he finally nodded off. In doing so he damned himself.
The Driftmark Throne is secured and Rhaenyra returns home believing she and Alicent can mend their friendship. During the night Dragonstone is attacked by hired assassins and when the family finds each other, they quickly realize Lucerys is not among them.

Aemond gets out of his car and grabs his suitcase, he bends down to get the key from under the mat where his mother said it would be when the door opens. Aemond looks and sees someone that since he knew he would spend the holidays with the whole family he had been mentally preparing himself to see, which now that he was face to face with the person he realized was of no use since Aemond could not pronounce a word.

The outcome he gets from this union is rather different than what anyone expected.
Tldr: The people of Westerosi have no idea how genetics work, and it kind of ruins Otto’s long-term plans for world domination when the children of Luke and Aemond are born looking more Velaryon than anyone expected.
