Work Text:
Hajime glanced around at the two boys laying on either side of him on the couch. Fuyuhiko’s good eye was strictly locked onto the TV as a movie played out in front of them, cascading a bright light in the otherwise unlit room. Nagito, on the other hand, had seemingly collapsed onto Hajime’s shoulder. Breathing steady, eyes lightly closed. A rare moment where he seemed completely at peace.
Hajime carefully wrapped an arm around Nagito’s shoulders and pulled him in close. As if he sensed the disturbance, he stirred; his arms found their way around Hajime’s waist. Fuyuhiko’s head turned towards them, and he gave him that typical little smirk of his.
“Leaving me out?” He teased. Hajime rolled his eyes and wrapped his other arm around Fuyuhiko’s waist, pulling him in as well. Fuyuhiko gave a satisfied sigh and collapsed onto his shoulder.
“Happy now?”
“Very,” he yawned. Hajime smiled and planted a small peck onto his head. Fuyuhiko made a startled noise, though quickly nuzzled his head back into Hajime’s neck.
It wasn’t every day that you had a Yakuza boss cuddled into one arm and a person who had apparently gone into remission from dementia in the other. Especially both at once, and especially that they were both dating each other as well. It was like… a one in billions chance, yet there they were. He honestly still couldn’t believe it despite the fact that they’d been boyfriends for so long.
Fuyuhiko weaved an arm around Hajime and grabbed Nagito’s hand. It was honestly kind of astonishing how none of them ever got jealous of one another; they always shared intimacy equally between each other. None of them were ever truly left out.
Fuyuhiko’s breathing steadied beside him. He could safely assume that they were both asleep, and he honestly couldn’t have cared less about the movie; Fuyuhiko and Nagito had been raving about it to one another for the past few days and insisted on Hajime watching it.
He was about to grab for the TV remote when an arm wrapped around his own. Fuyuhiko’s arms laid secure around Hajime’s arm; maybe he was awake after all?
“Hiko, I need to turn the TV off,” Hajime grumbled. Fuyuhiko’s death grip tightened.
“No you don’t,” he replied groggily. Definitely still awake. Hajime sighed and let it go. He didn’t know exactly how he’d fall asleep with that much background noise, especially at that ungodly high volume since apparently Nagito is suddenly hard at hearing.
“Can I at least turn it down a little?” He replied. Fuyuhiko shook his head into his shoulder and mumbled something incoherent. Hajime let out a sigh and accepted his fate. It was a weekend after all; its not like he had to be up early for anything. Losing a little sleep wouldn’t hurt.
Hajime shifted around a little bit to get more comfortable when Fuyuhiko grumbled beside him again.
“Stop moving, you’re warm right there,” Fuyuhiko nuzzled himself into Hajime’s side. God, he acted like he was deprived of any and all physical contact when he was tired. He couldn’t really complain, though; he enjoyed how cuddly he got sometimes.
Hajime let his head fall on top of Nagito’s as his eyelids grew heavy. Even with the intense noise and bright lights, maybe he’d be able to actually get some sleep.
~~~
He awoke to warmth engulfing him on each and every possible side of his body. He blinked some sleep out of his blurry eyes when he’d remembered: right. They fell asleep on the couch together last night. Nagito had nuzzled into Hajime further—which he was surprised was even possible—and continued to hold onto his waist. He leaned down to kiss Nagito on the top of his head, followed by Fuyuhiko.
Things had been much slower between the three of them these days. Nagito’s cancer had gone into remission, but he was still constantly plagued with exhaustion and aching everywhere. Fuyuhiko, one the other hand, would have random bouts of phantom pain in his missing eye. He’d usually just try to deal with it until Hajime inevitably noticed and told him to go rest.
Hajime gently tried to wriggle his way free from them both to no avail. He’d maneuvered Fuyuhiko’s arms off of his own, but Nagito wouldn’t budge.
“Nagi, I was gonna make you both some breakfast, and I need to be let go for that,” he whispered as he ran a few fingers through his hair. Nagito’s grip on Hajime only tightened.
“Just five more minutes,” he mumbled into Hajime’s shoulder. He sighed and leaned back down onto the couch.
“How long have you been up?” Hajime asked. Nagito only nuzzled his head deeper into Hajime’s neck.
“I never went to sleep.”
Hajime’s eyes widened. Not because this was a new thing—Nagito frequently got poor sleep—but he’d hidden it so well. Hajime continued playing with his soft hair.
“I’m sorry,” he continued to finger comb some of the smaller snarls and knots out of Nagito’s bedhead. Nagito shook his head and gazed up at him. His hair was messy as fuck, but still always looked absolutely ethereal on him. Like it was eternally fluffy and soft no matter how tangled or matted it got.
“Don’t be. I don’t really deserve sleep anyways,” he replied with a strained chuckle. Hajime frowned.
“Me and Fuyuhiko both told you to stop with the self-deprecation talk,” he chided. Nagito stared down at the floor and avoided eye contact. Fuyuhiko stirred beside him; he snaked his arms around Hajime’s waist as well, fully securing him onto the couch. So much for making them both breakfast.
“And here I was gonna make you guys breakfast,” Hajime teased at them both. Fuyuhiko’s head immediately shot up towards him in a sleepy glare.
“Last time you tried to cook something, you almost started the kitchen on fire,” he grumbled. Hajime giggled awkwardly. The memory flashed through his mind: trying to make some over easy eggs and toast, accidentally setting the toaster to the hottest setting and burning it, forgetting to season the eggs, and almost setting them on fire because of how hot the stove was.
“I’ll be careful this time,” Hajime grumbled. Fuyuhiko shook his head and shot him another glare.
“Fuck no, you’re banned from the kitchen unless I’m supervising,” he mumbled into the crook of Hajime’s neck. “And I’m not getting up just yet so you’ll have to wait.”
Hajime gave a tired sigh and ultimately accepted his fate. Breakfast would have to wait for a little while. Not that he was complaining, of course; he loved spending time with his boyfriends. He honestly wouldn’t wish to be anywhere else in this moment than right there, sitting on the couch with his two boyfriends, not having to worry about work or anything like that.
He pulled them both in close as he began to doze off again. Maybe, if they stayed there long enough, Nagito would get some actual sleep.
