Long before humanity took its first breath, before kingdoms were built or history was written, the universe itself gave birth to the celestial realm.
Nearly five billion years ago, the first world came into existence, Earth. To watch over this newborn world, the universe created its first divine, being Mother Nature, the Goddess of Life, entrusted with nurturing the land, seas, and skies.
As ages passed, the remaining planets were born, each blessed with its own guardian deity. Even the heavens were not left untouched. The Sun was entrusted to Nikkou, while the Moon was placed under the care of Mikazuki. Together, these Celestial Beings maintained the balance of existence.
Only the universe possessed the power to create a god.
It could either shape one from the stars themselves... or grant divinity to a mortal whose deeds proved worthy of eternity.
The first human to ascend was Divine, a man of Ancient Mesopotamia who became the God of Law. Centuries later came Měi of Ancient China, whose compassion and grace earned her the title of Goddess of Beauty and Love. Many others followed, each chosen to govern a different aspect of the world. They blessed humanity with fertile harvests, safeguarded great cities, guided travelers, and watched over the fortunes of mankind.
For countless generations, peace endured.
Then, during the age of Ancient Japan, a child unlike any before him was born.
His name was Shimei.
He became the God of Death.
Unlike the other gods, Shimei brought neither guidance nor balance. Wherever he walked, life withered. Crops burned to ash, cities crumbled into ruin, and innocent lives vanished beneath his shadow. Fear spread across the world as his influence grew stronger with every passing year.
The gods and goddesses united to stop him.
They failed.
As time passed, something even more terrifying occurred. One by one, the Celestial Beings themselves began to change. Pride corrupted their hearts. Compassion gave way to greed. The protectors of humanity became its rulers, abusing the immense power they had once sworn to wield responsibly.
The world stood on the brink of extinction.
At the very moment all hope seemed lost, the universe intervened.
It stripped the gods and goddesses of the vast majority of their divine power and sealed it within a crimson gem known as The Lumina Heart. Hidden somewhere upon the Earth, the gem vanished from history. Its resting place is known only to Mother Nature herself.
Though the Celestial Beings still possess fragments of their divinity, the greatest portion of their strength remains imprisoned within the Lumina Heart.
From that day onward, humanity turned its back on the gods.
They came to fear them.
To hate them.
For everyone knows that if the Celestial Beings were ever to reclaim the power sealed within the Lumina Heart, the world would fall, and humanity would be erased forever.
But there is one truth...
A truth hidden even from the humans
