The Quiet Room [Podfic]

Summary:

“Hey, that guy.” He points with his chin, and Nie Huaisang’s eyes widen when he catches sight of the black-clad figure in the DJ booth.

“Oh, shit, it’s Lan Wangji.”

“So I’m not going crazy? It’s actually him?”

Wei Ying hasn’t seen Lan Wangji in years, and now here he is, and looking like that, like this, like the dark deity of some starkly gorgeous underworld.

(Or: Wei Ying thinks goths are kind of funny, until he runs into San Francisco’s premier goth club DJ, Lan Wangji.)

Music: Cocteau Twins, Cherry-coloured Funk; Einstürzende Neubauten, Sabrina; Einstürzende Neubauten, Silence is Sexy

This playlist has all of the music listed in the fic as well as anything else I end up using.

Because this chapter has music underscoring a bit of the narration, I’ve also got a no-music version if you want it! Right click to download, left click to stream—you know the deal.

Want to download a bunch of files at once without going through the fic chapter by chapter? Head to this podfic on Internet Archive. You can also right click here to download a zip file with all six chapters.

Notes:

Hooray! So excited to be really getting going on this! Zeelos said "The Quiet Room?" and I said "BET" and here we are. I recorded this first chapter a while ago, like two weeks? idk. And then finally sat down to clean it up and add the music and such today! Hooray!

Thank you so much to trickybonmot for having blanket permissssionnnnnnn and for writing this and transporting me VERY VISCERALLY back to my early 20s and the late 90s/early 00s. What a time.
