BJYX Week 2020 Non-Au Day 1: Untamed/CQL BTS
Late in the night, Yibo stopped reading the script, and he stood, alone in his apartment. He drew himself tall, upright. He focused his energy inward, muscles contracting toward his spine, torso forming into a fortress around the secrets of Lan Wangji. He strode across the room, full of intent, layering suppressed passion into his movement.
Yibo was transfixed. He spun, swinging his arm out with an imaginary sword, and then leaped, landing a little heavier than he intended. The next leap was right, full of grace and urgency, and Yibo bounded around the room, launching his body again and again to land between Xiao Zhan and danger.
I could protect him.

Summary
They say he was thrown into Luanzang Gang by the man who killed his parents; they say that he is an immortal cultivator who had been in a deep trance until the Wen sect disturbed his rest and incurred his wrath; they say that he is the fierce corpse of a cultivator who had somehow regained his mind and his spiritual powers.
When Lan Wangji sees him for the first time, he understands why people talk.
Meng Yao wants safety. Xue Yang wants vengeance. The Sunshot Campaign wants victory. Yiling Laozu provides, for a price.

Summary
Lan Qiren would like to not be in this situation. There are too many absurdities to contend with at the same time, and Lan Qiren is determined to blame every last one of them solely on Wei Wuxian. Among aforementioned absurdities, in no particular order, are:
A loudly braying donkey.
A surprisingly even louder Lan Jingyi, wrangling said donkey while making a valiant yet futile effort to avoid swearwords – both of which Lan Qiren intends to reprimand him for as soon as his life returns to some semblance of sanity.
The entire fact that said donkey requires wrangling in the first place due to the ill-advised end-goal being to transport the animal via sword.
The fact that this means that Lan Qiren is left to wrangle the demonic-cultivating, donkey-owning, exonerated menace of the entire cultivation world in general and Lan Qiren’s existence in particular, Wei Wuxian.
Yes, this is all Wei Wuxian’s fault.
Or: Wei Wuxian is injured on a night hunt, and Lan Qiren is stuck having to deal with it.

Everyone knows that there’s no way a righteous sect, let alone the hidebound Lan sect, would accept the Yiling Patriarch into their clan.
...Everyone is wrong.
Or, when the notorious Yiling Patriarch marries Hanguang Jun to save the Wens, nothing in the cultivation world will ever be the same again.

Summary
“Well—maybe you’ll get lucky, and Lan Wangji won’t like you at all. Then he might send you home and keep up his part of the deal anyway!”
Nie Huaisang meant it as a joke, but Wei Ying sees potential.
After all: if there’s one thing he’s learned in the months since the engagement, it’s that he is utterly unsuitable for a place like the Cloud Recesses.
All he has to do is act like it.
(...After a century of war, the great sects are looking to make peace by the most common means: marriage. When Wei Wuxian is promised to the Lan Clan, it is thought to be a grave insult.
Things do not turn out the way anyone expects.)
