Summary
Sixty years after the plague that ended the old world, Wisteria accepts a commission that should be simple: two young women from a protected enclave, conditioned and delivered to a woman who collects beautiful things.
She brings Wren with her. She always brings Wren, her shadow, her kept thing, the woman who has followed her for three years and knows her better than anyone alive. That's not the same as knowing her, and Wren is starting to understand the difference.
