It’d been a month since they’d gotten back. Dad had practically ascended at the sight of the six of them, spitting out curses and blessings alike in English and Japanese and also Swahili, at one point? They’d absolutely pigged out on the pizza gyozas, watched a Lou Jitsu movie together, and then –
It’d been over. That’d been the curtain-closer, they’d taken their final bow, and that was it.
But that wasn’t it. They’d seen the world that could’ve been up close. They’d learned things they shouldn’t have known, fought battles that weren’t supposed to be real, broken bread with mirror duplicates that were polar opposites. They’d been scared. But now it was done, and they were supposed to go back to their lives like they hadn’t seen themselves for what they were, bones and blood and all.
