    From a Hobbitkink prompt:

    The battle was over, and Thorin Oakenshield awoke, naked and shivering, in the Halls of his Ancestors.

    The novelty of being dead fades quickly, and watching over his companions soon fills him with grief and guilt. Oddly, a faint flicker of hope arises in the form of his youngest kinsman, a Dwarf of Durin's line with bright red hair.

    (Follows the story of the War of the Ring).

     

    (Bagginshield, Gimli/Legolas) In which recovery takes time, the dead members of the Company take to watching Gimli as though he’s a soap opera, the living struggle with being left behind, Legolas is confused, Khuzdul is abused, and Thorin is four feet and ten inches of guilt and anger.

    "A joke. Regulus Black made a joke. A mean one, at my expense, but a joke nonetheless... You know baby Black, we could be friends."
    "I would rather fling myself off the Astronomy Tower..."

    Or: Regulus is concerned about Sirius after their mother orchestrates a horrible attack. And with Sirius out of reach he relies on James Potter to know his brother is okay. Except their meetings keep happening, and their conversations keep falling away from Sirius. Falling for James Potter might just be the most reckless thing he's ever contemplated.

    Regulus was never one to make plans, but when it came to his future with Barty, he had plenty of plans. They were going to leave their houses together, move in together and spend the rest of their lives together as best friends who became boyfriends along the way. Regulus had a plan, but the return of his older brother six years after he ran away makes all of Regulus' plans collapse.
    Barty always had a plan for his future with Regulus, it was always the two against the world, best friends who would always stick together no matter what, but since Sirius' return, Barty has begun to wonder if his dreams are really going to come true.

    At some point, their plans start to crumble.

    Evan Rosier and James Potter were not part of those plans.

    "Real people?" He asked in a low voice.
    "Yes," Barty agreed dreamily.
    "Yeah, okay," Regulus said softly, "Let's be real people."
    "Yeah," Barty lifted his head from his shoulder and looked up at him with his beautiful dark eyes, leaning in to place a simple kiss on his cheek, " Let's be them."
