Summary
After eleven years living among the ruins of a desolate future, Vlad Masters finds himself at his lowest point: stripped of his powers, embittered, and utterly alone. When the Master of Time, Clockwork, appears amidst the rubble, he brings no judgment, but rather one last, final opportunity for redemption.
Transported back to the past, Vlad wakes up on the very day following the tragedy that destroyed the Fenton family. Now, he has the chance to rewrite his history and, for the first time, abandon the "easy path" of manipulation and selfishness. By taking custody of a traumatized and hopeless Danny Fenton, Vlad decides he will not try to mold the boy into an heir or a pawn, but instead protect him from himself and the grim fate that once awaited them both.
However, life between two wounded predators in a cold mansion proves to be a monumental challenge. While Danny struggles with guilt and grief, seeing Vlad as a "necessary evil" for his survival, Vlad must learn to be the mentor he never was, facing his own cruel instincts and Clockwork’s silent vigil. In this alternate reality, Vlad’s greatest enemy isn’t the world or the ghosts, but the man he used to be.
