Jimin hesitated again, nervous about what would be seen in the photos, afraid that his dreams of a perfect child would be ripped away, terrified that it would be an empty snapshot, one with a bassinet and blankets and toys but an invisible baby because their baby wasn’t human, their baby was a vampire, because vampires—“Vampires show up on film, Minnie-yah.”
Oh. That was right. Jimin spluttered out an excuse, trying to convince his husband that of course he wouldn’t be as ridiculous as to believe those old tales, that he knew—
That their baby was beautiful.

Jimin and Hoseok are ready to adopt. The only available baby is Jungkook, a young vampire. Jimin and Hoseok are not sure about adopting him since the society is prejudiced against vampires and Hoseok is scared, but they try to be good parents for him anyway -

What he sees is—it’s a mess. Dirt and mud and twigs and burs are tangled in the hair across its body. Scars litter across its feet as if it’d run through thorns with no regards to its own safety. There’s blood coating the underbelly of the wolf, dripping down its hind legs and onto the forest floor. Between its legs it’s a he.
There is also a very obviously pregnant stomach.

He believed in all kinds of magic like alchemy, prayers, voodoo, and astronomy, in magical occurrences and magical courage.
(Or was that liquid courage? Courage in a liquid had to count as magic, right?)
Jimin’s always believed in magic and there was something downright magical to be found in the bottom of a shined glass filled with brown water made in someone else’s bathtub.
(Or maybe it was the magic from Hoseok’s smile after cheering on Jimin throwing back a shot in one go that awed him.)
(Physical happiness in someone’s smile had to count as magic, right?)AKA,
Jimin and Hoseok live in America during the Prohibition Era and drink way too much to be healthy but its okay because life is too short to not do things illegally. Also, Jimin might be looking for that certain push he needs to tell Hoseok something he's had on his mind for years.
