Hermione’s eyes widened, a flush creeping over her cheeks.
“Exceptional, Sir?”
“Yes,” he whispered in a softer tone than she had ever heard from the Potions Master. “You are… exceptional. Potter would have failed without you. You cannot falter now. Do not think I haven’t noticed that you have lost some of your… confidence… since the war. And I will not allow it.”

Summary
Harry Potter is back at Hogwarts after the war. He's grown up a bit, and he has some very pressing questions for his former Potions Professor. When the war ended, it abruptly cut off the story they had started together.
Now he's back, with an invitation to take up The Cursed Position, and to retrieve the memories of what happened him in his brief but fateful capture by Voldemort's forces. Snape has been shoving the memories down, trying to move on with his life, but old wounds can't heal if they're left to fester and The Boy Who Lived can't live his life not knowing everything that happened between them, even if he's got to ignore Snape's wishes to do so.
He trusted Snape, and maybe even loved him, but Snape knows there's no forgiveness for his betrayal in Malfoy Manor that night. -
