“Are you scared?” When Michael looks at him, Musiala’s sorry ass looks like he really believes this: that Michael is scared of the water, not his age-old infatuation with Musiala. “I promise, it’s okay.” Musiala’s expression is so unfailingly earnest, his eyes warm and tender. “I’d never let you drown.”
Nothing in Michael’s life has really ended up how it’s supposed to, but at least Jamal Musiala is teaching him how to swim.
