Summary
Bellamy is eleven when he gets his first soulmark.
He's no stranger to what soulmarks are— the ugly words that cement themselves on skin. When he feels the stinging sensation and sees the words appear, his stomach drops. Not just because Aurora had been so cautiously optimistic about him not having a soulmate at all—it would only complicate matters, she told him, one more risk to Octavia’s secret existence. But because of the word itself.
He feels that it’s deeply unfair to have to walk around with "privileged" on his skin when he’s anything but. Being from Factory already means rations are tight, and with three mouths to feed when they can barely sustain two, "privileged" feels like a mockery.
Or: to have a soulmark is to carry the vilest things that your soulmate believes about themselves on your skin.

Summary
"I'm leaving," Clarke says one day. She stares through the gaps in the fence to the grass and trees beyond. “For real this time. I can’t stay here, and I can’t come back.”
Bellamy stands like a sentry at her shoulder. “I understand.”
And she knows he does. Maybe that’s why this time, she turns to him and says, “Come with me.”

Summary
Clarke drops back to walk beside him. We fight or we die, she had told him four days ago. There was no fight left in either of them, now, only quiet resignation.
“I’m sorry,” she says quietly. “I shouldn’t have asked us to come here. Every time I try to do the right thing it—goes wrong, somehow.”
“This was the right thing,” he says staunchly. “We couldn’t leave Raven alone here to die, not when we could save her. We were just too late.” Too late to save Raven: the lab had been empty when they had arrived, the rocket gone. Too late to save themselves.
“Everything I did,” she says, “every horrible thing I did, I did to save our people.”
“And we did.”
“Not everyone. Not the ones who matter.”

Summary
What, precisely, it means to be 'Dad,' he can’t actually say. He's something more than a make-believe, playhouse version of a father figure, something less than an actual parent. It's not a role he could explain to anyone, but then, no one ever asks. Outside of their insular group, no one even knows about the old tradition, and as long as the dropship survivors stick to themselves, the status quo remains unchallenged, uninterrogated.
It starts as a joke, this habit the hundred have of calling Clarke and Bellamy 'mom' and 'dad.' But by the time the Mount Weather survivors return to Camp Jaha, it's become much more than that. It's become a way to signal that they're still a family, even as they reunite with their people and integrate themselves into the growing settlement.

Summary
Clarke asks Bellamy to marry her. And he agrees with a half-shrug and keeps his word, even when she realizes that they would have to be married for real, a ceremony and all, because the grounders really don’t respond well to being tricked. They even scrounge up a nice jacket for Bellamy for the day of. On their wedding day, Abby only frowns a little, Bellamy delivers his vows with convincing confidence, and Clarke doesn’t once mention Octavia. Even to tell Bellamy that she wished she was there.
Or, Bellamy and Clarke fuck their way into love.
