"Good night, Jason," she whispered. Her voice was calm, too calm, but sincere nonetheless.
"Good night, Barbara," Jason whispered back, smiling that buried child's smile—the one the Bat never thought he'd see again. Beneath the cowl, his eyes stung.
The Joker is dead, and Jason and Barbara may be the only ones in the world who know how it happened.

Jason comes through the thinning line of constructs at a run, one gun still raised as he checks the alley and then the body at Roy’s feet.
“I could fucking kiss you,” he exclaims, as he slows to a stop. “That was insane!”
Roy hooks a hand into the front of his boyfriend’s armor and pulls him close enough that their heads nearly knock together.
“Save it for later,” he teases, pushing a flat palm against Jason’s chest to send him a few feet back.
