“I feel really good about this kid, I think he could be great on your wing, he just needs some help settling in. Someone to show him the ropes.”
“Yes.”
The line went silent for a moment. Ilya wasn’t really sure why his coach felt the need to run this by him.
“Rozanov,” his coach said at last. “I want him to live with you.”
Ilya blinked, then nearly shouted into the phone. “What?”

Summary
"Hey." J.J. held out his hand for a handshake, as if he were meeting Ilya for the first time, and Shane supposed that in a way he was. "Zane says you don't suck."
Shane had not made Ilya promise to be on his best behavior, and he regretted that immediately as he watched Ilya shake J.J.'s hand with an expression of exaggerated confusion.
"Bood is slandering me? Why would he do this?" Ilya turned to Shane. "And you! You are letting your friends believe I don't give excellent—"
or:
Shane told J.J. the truth after the almost-plane-crash. Now Shane has the aggressive support of his most sociable and meddlesome friend.

Summary
“And why is a Russian prince inviting me to his matchmaking party? Do they need gentry chaperones or something?”
“No, no, and it’s not a party, it’s a whole series of affairs, it’s…Shane, you’re invited as a candidate. A marriage candidate.”
Shane pulls the phone away to make sure the line’s still connected and he hasn’t accidentally started watching Downton Abbey or something.
Prince Ilya Grigoryevich Rozanov meets Shane Hollander, Duke of Montreal.

Summary
He’s just about ready to doze off—his ritualistic pre-dinner, thirty-minute nap—when, suddenly, Ilya says, “Huh. Interesting.”
Shane cracks one eye open. “Hmm?”
“Oh, nothing, малыш,” he replies, though his brows are furrowed when he says it. Shane’s even more curious now.
“No, really, what is it?”
Ilya must lose some internal debate; a deep sigh leaves his body before, wordlessly, he turns his phone to Shane.
The bright light makes him squint, still not used to Ilya and his affinity for both using the light-mode feature and turning the brightness in his phone to a maximum. He forgoes scolding him when, after his eyes have adjusted, he reads: Metros acquires Fil-Canadian Rivera; second Asian player in franchise history after Hollander.
At first he thinks, oh, that’s my name. Shane hasn’t seen his name mentioned remotely near the words ‘Montreal Metros’ ever since he transferred to Ottawa three years ago. Then, and this is when it finally dawns on him, Shane thinks: second?
