Tsukasa continued to stare at the ceiling for a bit before finally deciding that he should start preparing for bed, grabbing his pajamas and rushing to brush his teeth, anxiously shifting from foot to foot as he stared at the bathroom mirror, not able to escape his thoughts of the coming day.

Romance was never Wonderlands x Showtime’s focus when it came to shows.
Honestly, they had never planned for it to be until the topic of Valentine’s Day rolled around, and Emu had a great idea.

In an attempt to save their pining friends from having to play the romantic leads in a show, Rui and Tsukasa take the roles for themselves, but they run into a problem. The show concludes with the two characters kissing after far too long, but neither Rui nor Tsukasa has ever kissed anyone, so rather than fumbling on stage, they take matters into their own hands.

Not only does Tsukasa need to be surrounded by pretentious, detestable people for the whole night, he also has to deal with the court sorcerer, Kamishiro Rui. But that turns out to be a bigger problem than expected considering Tsukasa just can't seem to get Rui out of his head.

The mage but his lip. He knew he would be alone the day Tsukasa left to attend to what he was expected to do— supposed to do. Yet, he also knew if he made Tsukasa stay, the consequences for his king would render him guilt ridden to the day he rotted and beyond.
Rui wanted anything but to see Tsukasa risk his status, his position —his purpose— just for a young mage he’d met in his juvenile years, but giving up the ability to kiss him, touch him, feel him; His tan skin and his how it got goosebumps easily and his soft lips that made the most stunning smile...
Rui just wasn’t worth that much.
But Tsukasa’s understanding eyes, full of warmth and compromise, embodied all the two loved in the world, in one single glance.
Was this a risk they were willing to take?

tsukasa withdraws his hand, feeling the drops of seawater cling to his skin, but yellow eyes stare it delicately like he’s inspecting a fine gem.
“thank you,” he whispers after, not knowing what to say to fill this silence. he looks down at the reunited glove pair in a way to express his gratitude, but the stranger stares at him, looking expressionless.
“you’re welcome,” he replies, voice smooth and soft, and in a flash, any trance of him is gone, tail flicking out of the water, but this time tsukasa’s throat goes dry.
it was a tail, no doubt about it! the same tail he saw all those years ago!
pressing the gloves to his chest, he sprints all the way back to the castle, relentless and uncaring of how ridiculous he looked.
