Hal is kind enough to buy the two of them a six-pack to share, once night falls. He’s hopped up on being right about the alien, despite the damage to the town, and he wants to celebrate, so he tells John to stop when they pass a little corner store and then spends ten minutes doing God knows what inside before emerging, victorious, with a cheeky grin and a large brown paper bag.
Hal is not kind enough to pay for their hotel room.

Summary
Hal was never the Guardians’ first choice to be a Green Lantern. Hell, he wasn’t the second, third, or fourth, either. He didn’t even make the fucking list. He’s been best described as a loose cannon with a bad temper and a penchant for getting himself into more trouble that strictly necessary, and he breaks more rules than he follows. Sometimes he doesn’t think things all the way through before he does them. Hal Jordan, danger to everyone, but mostly himself.
Shoot first, ask later, that’s his philosophy. Mostly. And it’s that philosophy that has him pinned under all six-foot-three inches of John Stewart.
