Brad had considered about three different ways to respond (play along, flee, attack) but not done any of them before Jo had risen from her desk and bellowed, “It is NOT. Brad’s BIRTHDAY.”
Brad pressed his lips together but couldn’t altogether hide his smirk.
At least he had one person that he could—well, not rely on, that would be stupid. But he had one person.
The group from Mythic Quest – David, Ian, Poppy, a cake – stopped, slightly baffled.
Ian was the first to break, laughing, “Of course it is, David had it in his calendar.”

The eating thing wasn’t about work. Not anymore.
There had been a time, earlier in Brad’s career, where he’d realised stress at work had the side effect of making him lose weight.
But he’d got better at his job.
There had been a time, earlier in Brad’s relationship history, where he’d realised the stress of providing what the other person expected (the stress of knowing he would fail to provide whatever emotional support they needed) had the side effect of making him lose weight.
But he’d stopped seeking out that kind of relationship.

Summary
Daniel didn’t know the history of the bath, but he probably would someday.
One day, his curiosity would get the better of him and he’d go digging to find the fossilised pieces of Armand’s past and start putting them together like palaeontologists do with dinosaur bones. And like them he wouldn’t get it right first try but it’s not like he would stop trying.
And the narrative where Armand was upset by the bath made more sense.
The actual fact, that Armand was sure of, was that he could have gone through with the bath and given Daniel no clues at all about any of his prior experiences if Daniel hadn’t asked Armand to affirm that he wanted it.
That had been the distressing part.

Summary
The thing about using the wheelchair was that House kind of wanted to use the wheelchair, not that he’d say it out loud.
Oh, yeah, it was fun, in the way that children understood wheelchairs and crutches are fun before adults shame them out of it.
It was an excuse to answer a bunch of questions he’d never had the opportunity to ask, let alone answer. What if he had let them take his leg? What if he’d let them take them both for shits and giggles? What if he conformed to the literal sticker symbol of disability? (What if he wasn’t forcing himself to use his leg past the point of pain every day?)

Wrote this because I needed to bully Wilson & Cuddy after their behaviour in 'Needle in a Haystack' - and also examine House's attitude to disability.

He was aware when he first told his life story to Louis that Louis would probably consider the way he talked about himself to be an affectation, a deliberate use of rhetoric and narrative technique.
It was just the most accurate way to describe it.
Arun (name uncertain) had experienced some things, Amadeo others. They had skills and wants.
And Armand ignored them, for the most part.

Summary
Daniel has a lot of reasoning for why he thinks this is a good idea, but it’s not like he thinks it’s worth expressing to anyone. For one, its only his and Armand’s business, and for two, trying to get Armand to acknowledge his desires openly and without twenty unique shades of shame and deflection is a near impossible task. He’d made naïve and foolish attempts to do so already.
No, probably the long-term solution to this was simply to convince Armand to engage in some kind of therapy.
And in the meantime, Daniel reckoned he could simply take the lead.

“On the bed,” Daniel said.
It wasn’t quite an order, said too flippantly, but Armand climbed up anyway.
When he was lying back, propping himself up on his elbows, Daniel flipped his hand casually, as if trying to dissuade a fly, and Armand’s body collapsed.
