Kris hadn't liked seeing that... sprite in front of them. They'd known just what the soul had done the last two days. But seeing it behind Susie? It had been instinctual to yank her away. Now, they couldn't help the way their hands shook or the way their breath hitched or the way their gaze wouldn't meet that stupid blade in their grasp. And yet, they had to hold it all the same. Had to fight and pretend that it was fine.
After everything, Kris learns they had been more noticeable than first thought.

Barovia was like home, in a way.
Dreadfully dark, ominous, and familiarly cold.
Always repeating, always the same. Never changing. Towns with its unassuming houses, buildings, walls that trapped you in place, left you stranded in the blistering, unforgiving cold. Leaving small hands desperate to stay warm and fed clutching hopelessly to their older sisters' hands.
Hands that were calloused at such a young age despite the softness they shared.
It was familiar, all too similar. And yet it was different.

The seat squeaks, and Dean follows the sound, his gaze trailing down. There—where Jack sat moments ago—is a much tinier version of him. He looks mostly the same, just...smaller and more dimply and cuter, if that's possible. His clothes have shrunk to fit him, so he's casually sitting in a t-shirt, jeans, and scuffed tennis shoes. He swings his feet from side-to-side over the edge of Baby's seat the same way Sam used to in the back, and he stares up at Dean with clear eyes.
"Oh," Dean blurts out, eyes bulging, "Cas is going to fucking kill me."
