I wasn't really expecting it to come up at all, if I'm being honest, but you know what they say about assuming. After all the initial discussions and work to figure out what I could eat, what I needed to get via food, and how best to ensure adequate nutrition, I figured food wouldn't come up again. Like, ever. Eridians are super private about it, and it's a nutritional obligation to them, not a social norm like it is for humans. That was fine - they soundproofed my kitchen and dining room for an added layer of protection, once they realised how noisily humans eat. No harm, no foul.
I hadn't accounted for the anthropologists.

A brave group of Eridian scientists finally broach the taboo topic of food with Grace, and there's a whole lot of miscommunication, a few false allegations, and the unveiling of an unintentional slight Eridians have been committing against Grace since the beginning - with Rocky being the worst offender of them all.

He’d read the manual. He wasn’t lying to Grace when he’d told her that. The manual could suck his ass, though, for all the help it was with pregnancy.
It’s not strange to the Na’vi. Jake could walk around the Omatikaya and find half a dozen men who were pregnant. It was just…something normal to them. When Jake’s pregnancy was announced, there was such joy.
Too bad Jake can’t feel any of that joy now. The only thing he feels, besides the occasional bout of nausea and the kicking of his little rugrat, is wrongness.

Summary
Sometimes Genya wishes for death.
She sits quietly in the bottom of the shower, tears mixing with the water raining down on her as she prays to whatever God will listen to take her life. Something random, like a car accident or horrible fire. Something no one could blame themselves for, that everyone could eventually cope with and move on from. And Genya could drift away like a bad dream, little more than a distant memory.
It’s not like she wants to die, not really. She just doesn’t want to be a burden any longer.
