Summary
Maomao was treating Jinshi, as she always would, regardless of his injury, but she was really sick of how... excited he got from pain. Teasing him in a bit of pay back was simply too fun an option.
Jinshi was well and truly sick of Maomao acting like he wasn't doing everything imaginable to be with her, especially after her attempt at teasing him.
If she wanted to play with knifes and tease fine, he would simply rise to the occasion and do more than play, and far more than tease.

“That's not how it went.” Maomao said, unwrapping her hands from their rightful place behind his neck.
“No, but isn't this better?” Trying to steer his mind away from the weird moment of clarity he seemed to be having, Jinshi ran his right index finger down the middle of her back.
She shuddered deliciously, but regained her composure and glared at him. It sent shivers down his spine.
“I don't usually have fantastical dreams.” She murmured, leaning away from him but not leaving his lap. “Much less lucid ones.”
“Well, probably because it's supposed to be my dream.” He grumbled, put out that his pleasant wet dream was going down the drain.
Due to a strange pair of incense burners, Jinshi and Maomao meet inside of shared dreams. It takes them a while to realize that.

Summary
In an insulting slight that was shrouded by the guise of a joke, Zuigetsu was gifted a treat with cacao at one of the social events he couldn't avoid, politics demanded he be there and at that nicety. He had to accept them, and ordinarily he would thrown them aside without a second thought, but Maomao had used cacao to make a snack once before, so maybe she'd like this.
Maybe it'd give him a chance to explain.
Maybe something more.
