Summary
From the earliest historical records found, humans have always been separated into two groups: lovers, and mortals.
The lovers are eternal, young until they meet those who match the mark that both, or on occasion, all three, were born with, eventually taking their place on the second world, Paradise, to leave their past life behind.
The mortals fit their title, unmarked, with, as legend says, no relationship that could ever be as fulfilling as those of the lovers. Doomed to death, never to see Paradise.
There has never been record of a mortal taking a place among the lovers. -

After the injury that cleft his jaw in half, Pasqal's breathing was rather suboptimal. A few invasive procedures have given him the ability to breathe again and [in typical tech priest style] managed to up his tolerance limit for going without air, but that's still not quite the same as recovering the ability to breathe by himself is it? Marazhai, ever the tender, sweet and caring partner that he is, has taken it upon himself to help. Muscles atrophied over 211 years and a new respiratory system not designed to function like this do make it a difficult task, but he'll make sure Pasqal really tries his best.
full disclosure this reads very dubcon at points but its not. pasqal is very much dom in this relationship and is specifically indulging marazhai's puppy eyes begging to do this scene [and does kick him twice for breaking role. he'll get taunted later for not being able to focus]. theyre both freaks and theyre just like this tbh
