The Perihelion’s crew is on a diplomatic mission to escort an ally of New Tideland and Mihira, with Murderbot running security. When they get on board, MB recognizes them: they’re a former client. Cue protective, vengeful ART and reluctantly appreciative MB.
Bonus Points
At first ART and the crew ask Murderbot what kind of client the person was, and if they should be worried. It tells them that the person was ‘better than average’ for a client. Of course, when details come out about what happened on the ‘better than average’ rental contact, everyone is horrified.

A grand reveal about who is the intended audience for the MB Diaries (other than ASR, which we know was a letter to Mensah): ART convinced MB to keep a log, with the intent of using the materials for a scholarly paper about constructs. Now we get to see the response of the audience, and MB's pride/discomfort with being perceived.
