I've been thinking a lot about how underrated and misunderstood Lae'zel's character is recently, and how perfect she matches a Dark Urge character. Of course, she'll never *quite* match the "monster trying to be a person" parallels and inexplicable caretaker elements of an Astarion x Durge romance, but think about it:
Lae's face is the first one Durge ever sees.
Their meetcute/situationship is so unconventional but has such potential!!
ESPECIALLY if you really lean into the slight yandere vibes of an obsessive attachment - Durge knows next to NOTHING about themselves, about the tadpole, about the woman before them; and trusts her implicitly as a source of unwavering confidence and answers.Thus, this is a novellisation of the first few days of my themed Tactician run (and it's gay because I'm a raging homosexual). Summary
There are countless versions of Realmspace. When the Absolute threatens this specific variant of the planet Toril, Corellon Larethian seeks out one of those from Earth who connect to the different threads of Realmspace to lead the team of adventurers to defeat the Absolute.
Raven, the desert-born disabled autistic woman Corellon has chosen as eir Cleric-Paladin, has her own goals. She wants the daughter that was taken from her, and she wants to stay in Faerûn after the adventure is over, rather than return to an Earth that punishes her for being who she is.
The Elven god will give her all she asks for in exchange for her aid in saving eir world - but as she travels alongside companions as burdened and heartbroken as she is, Raven starts to wonder if she's really as alone as she always believed herself to be, and starts to hope that maybe these new loved ones have a place in the life she's aiming to build for herself.
