Ilya looks at him, harder now that Shane seems very focused on the floor instead of meeting his eyes. Shane says, quieter than before, "It's not like it fucking bothers you, anyway. Or does it?"

Cliff Marleau gets traded to Montreal and suddenly Shane's teammates with Ilya's best friend. Right as they adjust to the new dynamics, Ilya gets traded too. Shane and Ilya decide to see what it would've been like to flirt and fall in love in front of their team, in front of their friends.
