    Summary

Let me go back to sleep, Stanley thinks to himself. I’m through with this reality. Let it be over.

Let me go back into the dream, let me continue pushing the buttons, please, it’s all I want.

I want my office, and my Narrator, and my bucket. All I want is my life exactly the way it’s always been.

My life isn’t, shouldn’t be, normal. I’m not normal. Everything is going to hell.

    I am not okay.

(Or: Stanley wakes up from a strange dream... and finds himself in a waking nightmare instead.)

    Summary

His head pokes into the closet, ink stained across the bottom of his palm and one side of his cheek. “Do you even need glasses?”

“No,” answers the Narrator honestly, “but I’ve worn them for so long that I suppose I’ve gotten used to them. Plus,” he says tugging at the green coat he'd decided to wear today, shoulders back, head held high, “I think they make me look spiffy.”

In retrospect, the Narrator could understand how Stanley could find his statement funny but maintains that Stanley’s choking-on-his-spit laughter was over the top and unnecessary.

    Summary

After the Narrator saves Stanley's life in Blank Decay, Stanley decides that he's tired of fighting.

So instead of trying to escape anymore, Stanley chooses the peace that he can have: a life with with the Narrator in the Starry Dome. The Narrator is relieved, but for reasons he would never dare to say out loud.

    Inspired by the Clock-0ut AU.

    Summary

The spell seemed to break the Narrator out of his silence, though. “There it is again. The coughing. Totally unnatural in this setting, Stanley. There’s not even enough dust to irritate the average human lung – I needn’t check, I just know. Stanley, you can’t actually be...” Stanley heard a great deal of shuffling, like gathering papers and flipping through them furiously. The Narrator sounded odd. His voice was cresting near something, but Stanley couldn’t focus on it long enough to understand what.

“Sick? You can’t be sick, Stanley. It’s not possible. You can’t eat. You-you can’t excrete. You can’t get tired. This is how it’s been – how it’s always been.”

    --

The Narrator and Stanley have a row. Emotions are high. Perhaps someone dies in the shuffle, but it's not as though that matters. That's the purpose of resets, after all. They erase all damage ever made.

    Until they don't.

Stanley gets sick. This is not something the Narrator is equipped to handle.
