Summary
Edward Teach is done being Blackbeard, he thinks. He's kept up with the persona for years, traveling and performing at Ren Faires all over the country. He's even been running his own faire, Blackbeard's Faire, for a while, which would've been perfectly great if not for the totally unnecessary and petty competition from the local Shakespeare in the Park group. That, and performing for audiences these days just doesn't spark joy like it used to. Edward's thinking of packing it all in... until he finds himself utterly and hopelessly enchanted by the new Shakespeare in the Park director.

Stede had such high hopes for the year 2020. For a while. But once lockdown hits, he promises his daughter he'll watch her Nintendogs on her old DS. He doesn't expect to be quite so delighted by the game. Or by this Pictochat game where he meets his new friend Ed.
Ed is burned out retro game reviewer on youtube who just happens to connect to the most ridiculous human on the planet when he pulls up the old Pictochat feature. Really, is it any wonder he's kinda gone on this guy? Of course between Covid and Stede's obliviousness, getting the guy is a lot harder.

Summary
When the zoo finds itself in the path of the hurricane, Ed and his panther find themselves sheltering in place with the strange keeper and his twenty flamingos. Ed's been fascinated since he first saw Stede, but will proximity spark something more between them?
“Arthur, where are y— Ed!”
It sends a thrill through Ed to hear Stede’s tone change from its previous exasperated tone. It shouldn’t. Stede sounds like that about everyone. Stede sounds like that about the slightly dry tuna mayonnaise sandwiches at the monthly meeting.
“Hey.”
Stede is wearing his zoo-issued polo, of course, the logo new and crisp, barely out of the plastic wrapper, and his khaki shorts are pretty standard, but his wellies are nearly the same pink as the flamboyance of flamingos trailing behind him, with added sparkle.
Ed doesn’t smile when he sees them. The corners of his mouth might turn up, but that’s different. He’s been away for a month and he’s missed anyone being so inescapably Stede, with his flamingos gathered around him loosely, and lovingly eyeing the feed bucket he’s carrying.
