Morning always comes. The morning, when they have to get up, dress, and drive back to Arkham on only a couple hours of sleep. The morning when they have to kiss goodbye still in the manor — always deep, heartbreaking, until their lips are sore. When Bruce asks a quiet “I’ll see you soon?” in the privacy of Batmobile, and Harvey whispers an almost inaudible “Always.” When Batman will squeeze a scarred wrist behind Two-Face’s back just lightly before passing him to the personnel of his asylum.
Sun will come up. That can’t be prevented; after all, the planet keeps spinning. But the nights were theirs, and Bruce will never be a man strong enough to refuse himself closing his eyes and leaning into his touch.Bookmarked by ThatPunkPickle
