    Dick Grayson has a mean streak a mile wide, though most people don't know it. As he's gotten older, he's learned to suppress that particular side of him, to the point where younger pack members such as Tim and Damian, are wholly and blissfully unaware of the danger that lurks within the seemingly guileless alpha.

    But Jason and Bruce remember. The early days of Jason's career as Robin were fraught with altercations between himself and Dick, not to mention the screaming matches he and Bruce called 'arguments' that they had every time Dick swung by. The alpha may be good at hiding it, but that part of himself has never gone away, and if he gets pushed too far, they shudder to think what could happen.

    They had a mission:

    Tim was supposed to be the pretty Omega bait to lure the handsome and rich Alpha, and Jason was supposed to be on the sidelines, ready to extract Tim if needed. After all, as far as everyone knew, he was an Alpha and not suited for this kind of delicate mission.

    And that was okay, it was a good plan. Right up until he suffered from a failing scent patch and the opportunistic Alpha, Armand Dupont, flipped the script on all of them and began courting Jason instead.

    Somewhere between “Jason’s on a date” and the realization that Jason isn’t an Alpha at all, but an Omega, alone, and being courted by a stranger far from Gotham— something in Dick snaps into sharp, possessive focus. He drops everything to find him. Because the mission is one thing, but another one has suddenly become very clear: Jason isn’t staying out there. Not with Dupont. Not with anyone.

    Dick will make sure of that.

    The image in front of him is solid and warm, like a real person- like it’s not a ghost. And this version of his brother looks closer to Jason in age, with gray hair at his temple and crow’s feet lining his eyes. Like what a Dick Grayson who lived might have looked like. 

    As Jason is forced to conclude, this Dick Grayson is very much alive. But that’s not possible. Because that’s a nice thing for the universe to bestow upon him, and Jason Todd does not get given nice things.

    He doesn't recognize the number, but the area code comes from the UK, so out of pure curiosity, he plugs the phone into a charger and goes to look for some cereal. It's not been 15 minutes when the burner rings again, he picks it up, and a calm male voice says, 'Hello, Mr. Knightley?' He does a quick run over the people who know that name and have that phone, but as far as he knows, there should be none. He says yes, either way, willing to see how far this goes. 'I'm Nurse Haynsworth, calling you from The Royal Victoria Infirmary, regarding your husband.' He moves back to his office and turns on his laptop, quickly searching the name and finding a hospital in Newcastle upon Tyne in the UK. 'There was an explosion, and your husband was caught in it. As his next of kin, we require your presence, Sir.' He does not have a husband.
