Summary
What if children across history slowly disappeared? What if all the unwanted, forgotten, and unwashed children slowly evaporated?
The world has to adjust to those children suddenly disappearing and how it damages our society. But one man, John Smith, refuses to accept that his little sister, Elodie Vale, has simply disappeared. When he returns from fighting overseas in World War 1 and finds his parents dead and her missing no one can tell him what happened to her. He vows to find her no matter what.
Elodie, meanwhile, has forgotten she ever had a brother and is content in the house that never lands without realizing the danger that is lurking below or without wondering why the mysterious Lenora who’s in charge of the house that never lands wants the unwanted children in the first place.
Lenora finds herself being chased through time by an infuriating man who refuses to give up on the mystery of his sister. Lenora is more interested in who exactly John Smith is and what secrets he holds in the silver pocket watch which is identical to her own.

Summary
When Irene reconnects with Theo—an anxious, highly controlled man who struggles to feel safe in his own vulnerability—their relationship slowly becomes a space where he is no longer expected to manage every part of himself alone. What begins as quiet companionship grows into a deeply intimate bond shaped by care, patience, and the unlearning of shame around need and illness.
As Theo navigates recurring illness, sensory overwhelm, and a lifelong fear of being “too much,” Irene becomes a steady presence who challenges his belief that love must be earned through perfection. Irene herself learns to be helped and loved by Theo. Their relationship deepens through everyday moments—family gatherings, awkward setbacks, small victories, and the gradual replacement of apology with trust.Set against a backdrop of complicated family dynamics and lingering emotional wounds, the story follows their progression from hesitant connection to committed partnership, culminating in engagement and marriage. Along the way, they build not just a life together, but a shared understanding that love is not conditional on being easy, quiet, or convenient—it is something that holds steady even when things are messy, loud, or unwell.
