Izuku had accepted long ago what it meant for him to be in love with Kacchan. After all, Izuku knew who he was. He knew who Kacchan was.
He knew that he was in love with him, but the idea that Kacchan would ever want that sort of thing with Izuku was not only impossible—it was laughable.
It was the kind of love that he'd never expected to be requited. It was the sort of love for which he didn’t ever entertain the possibility of reciprocation, even in his own mind. It was the type of love where he did his best to kill it and grieve it before it could ever see the light of day.
Stranded in an old cabin during a raging storm, Izuku must endure trials such as the aftereffects of a severe head injury, a quickly worsening fever, and worst of them all—Kacchan's thorough and attentive care.

Izuku is five years old the first time he's saved by heroes. He's an instant fan of the woman in pink with her cheerful smile and the man with his ice powers and fine-boned features, even if they both refuse to tell him their names.
For most of his life, Izuku has been the centre of villain attacks, but he has never been injured. Every time, he's saved by bright, unknown heroes—heroes who smile at Izuku, and ruffle his hair or ply him with hugs, and seem mesmerised by how small he is.
Heroes that the rest of the world doesn't believe exists.

"Where are you going, Peppermint?" Bakugou asked with a frown.
"To my room."
"I thought we could all watch a movie together," Midoriya pouted. "You don't want to?"
Of course, he wanted to join them. But he didn't know that he should. He never knew what he was and wasn't supposed to do around his friends anymore, now that they were together. He was the odd thing on the edge of the painting that didn't quite fit the painter's style- the thing that would keep art enthusiasts confused for years after the artist's passing. When the painting was hung in grand halls, people would always want to know why that odd thing was there in the background because it was evident to anyone who looked that it just didn't belong.
"I wouldn't want to intrude," Shouto finally stated. Because that's all he felt like he'd been doing as of late when it came to his two best friends. Of course, he wanted to spend time with them. But he couldn't help feeling left out whenever he was around them, even though it wasn't their fault.
