Me: Oh so he’s a lil fucked up, got it. Here he is developing a bruise kink on top of everything else going on.Something’s different, just in general. Like wearing sunglasses, a filter of sorts over everything, but if Shane was in any way honest with himself, he’d know it was more like going without for the first time.
He’s painfully aware of his body these days; how it looks, how it moves, how it responds to… stimuli. And it is responding, lately. His bruises, too: always just there, so used to them they’d barely registered anymore, but recently there’s been a sort of constant hum of them at the edge of his awareness. It’s a layer of input he really doesn’t need right now, busy as he is.
But he’s been woken up. Restless. Needy.
Late in bed, when all his chores are done, fingers travel up to his collarbone, where the newest acquisition is waiting for him.

Shane would see the whole mess after his own game in Montreal, of course. This fight would be all over the sports channels, social media pages, the works. Ilya wondered if it would be a bitter reminder that just because a dog chose not to bite didn’t mean it couldn’t. Even if it sat on command all sweet and nice, even it if wagged its tail, even if it rolled over and showed its soft belly. Still had teeth. Still descended from wolves. Still had the potential deep down, even if you let it into the house and called it part of the family. Aggressive dogs got bullets to the head and sometimes Ilya longed to feel cold metal bite against the back his skull.

Ilya had thought it was dumb, when Galina suggested it. A code word for when his mental health was bad—he and Shane didn’t even have a code word for sex, and Ilya was regularly tying Shane to the bed and slapping his ass until it was as red as a tomato.
“Is there a reason you’re calling me?” Shane asks now, voice echoey over the phone. “Or is this part of your strategy to win our argument?”
Ilya swallows hard. “Constantinople,” he says.

Dick Grayson is fine. Totally fine.
Eight months of abduction and "torture," and he's come out feeling the best out of his family. It wasn't like he's really messed up from it, not in the way Jason or Dami or Cass or Tim really are.
No, he's fine.
Of course, he broke off his engagement and hasn't spoken to his (ex?) girlfriend again and he definitely doesn't miss her. He's more than okay with spending most of his nights getting secretly plastered and trying (and failing) to hook up.
