Can we take it slow? he’d asked.
And they had. For weeks, it’s been nothing but hand holding during strolls on the deck, curling up next to each other on the settee at the end of the day, perhaps a chaste yet lingering kiss before they bade each other goodnight. Ed has never been good at slow, but when it came to this, he’s been willing to give it a shot.
Which is why now that he finds himself in Stede’s bed, watching the muscles of his back ripple as he pulls the bed curtains closed, he feels—conflicted.

Summary
There's a new app on the market that allows users to mark themselves as online and have other users (either with a passcode or total strangers) control their wearable sex toys. Should Ed have decided to try it out the morning she is supposed to be making her way to join her manager for a meeting with a potential new editor? Of course not, but Ed's never exactly been known for her impulse control - plus, it's not like anyone is going to know Ed's wearing a remote control vibrator. It's not like she's going to forget to turn it off before the meeting.
This has absolutely no chance of backfiring.

"It's just… well, it's rather hard to believe, isn't it?" Stede says.
"What, that Thomas and Maria are snogging already after he left her behind? It's a romance novel, Stede. It's not supposed to be realistic. You've gotta suspend your disbelief a bit, man."
"No, it's not that. It's just… Kissing. All of the romance novels make it out to be this huge, world-changing, earth-shattering experience. And it's just a bit silly, is all."
Ed swallows. "I dunno. It can feel really nice, y'know. With the right person."
Or, Stede confesses that he's never really seen the appeal of kissing before. What is a good co-captain to do but offer his own lips for the taking?
