Summary
During their first year at U.A., through hardships and tragedies, Shouto and Katsuki have forged an unexpectedly close bond, though it seems that no one, not even the two of them, knows how deep that connection really goes—not yet, at least.
The beginning of their second year goes about as smoothly as it probably could've, and everyone seems mostly okay. Everyone except Shouto, that is.When Shouto is affected by a quirk that induces narcoleptic-type symptoms, there may be more to this quirk than meets the eye. And it seems that, finally, Shouto is going to have to face the toll his upbringing and its fallout have taken on him.
At the same time, Katsuki must work through insecurity, learn to trust, and finally come to terms with his sexuality.

Filling in the blanks of canon (first year) THEN (second year) classic quirk accident shenanigans, all with a heavy dose of angst, pining, and whump.

“It was a training mishap,” Todoroki said, when the quiet had gone on for too long. Shouta studied him. Todoroki was patently uncertain, had opened his eyes just to stare down at his shoes with what Shouta could only identify as discomfort. He was still routinely scrunching the sleeves of his uniform, lowering his head so that his hair fell over his face.
“A training mishap,” Shouta echoed, tone carefully neutral. “That’s what you want to go with?”
While out on patrol, Aizawa gets hit by a Quirk that allows him to feel the pain of anyone he comes into physical contact with. It isn't a big deal - conversely, it wouldn't have been a big deal, were Todoroki not sporting hidden injuries.

“Not what I think?” Kacchan took a step closer, hands beginning to shake. “Izuku, what the hell?”
“No—" Izuku backed away. “It’s not—"
Then his eyes latched onto Izuku’s arms, and his lips melted into a smirk. “Holy fuck…” he chuckled, circling behind Izuku. “Look at this shit.”
Izuku froze.
“Jesus, I’ve always known you were a freak, but…” In the dull light of the room, his eyes darkened to a maroon. "Does this make you feel good or some shit? Now that you don't have a quirk anymore?"
OR
The war is over, and Class 1-A heads into second year. Katsuki, Izuku and Shoto are trying their best to cope. But there is no wound that heals with salt still in it.

They couldn’t have been separated that much: they both fell together. Todoroki should be close. Close and injured, his stupid stupid stupid fucking brain reminds him.
“Deku?!” He's starting to get desperate, clearly, he’s calling for Deku of all people right now.
The only thing working in his favor right now is the utter silence blanketed over the area. If Todoroki woke up he’s smart enough to know to make noise and that will lead Bakugou to him. …that’s assuming that the bastard will wake up before he finds him naturally. They’ve trained in rescue, it shouldn’t take forever.

OR: after the fight with Dark Might, Shouto and Katsuki are injured and separated, Katsuki searches desperately to find him before it’s too late, and stays beside him until—forever, actually; if Shouto will have him, which he will, it takes a bit to get there when they both think they’re more than friends and also just friends.

Katsuki curled his fingers into the snow. His hands were numb. It wasn’t a numbness brought on by the cold, no, he could feel the cold. This was a numbness from overusing his quirk. But he couldn't remember why he’d used his quirk, let alone why he’d use it in the snow. Katsuki hated the snow. He hated the cold, and especially the rain. So why was he crouched in the snow with a bloodied lip? Wait-
