Summary
When Captain Doctor Ryland Grace of the Hail Mary and his engineer Rocky come across an eerie, bloody submarine floating in deep space on their way back to Erid, they figure it must be some kind of abandoned space junk. They don't have the fuel or resources to spare in order to confirm their suspicions. It seems like a perfectly reasonable conclusion, up until the moment they receive a distress signal from the ship's radiation gun.
Grace and Rocky figure the ride home was going to be pretty boring without a pet project, anyway.

Ch.6 excerpt:
"His Brothers did not hate him, did not wish him dead; not yet, he still had a few more years before the judgement would be made on whether he could continue to grow in Eden’s well-tended garden. Instead it was a lesson, a reminder that he must fight to earn his place in the forest, to get the right to rise above the canopy and not choke to death in the darkness of the undergrowth below.
Your roots must take, Simon. They must take and feed and grow strong.
It was an act of indifference, no different to turning soil to aerate it. Beneficial for the ground, yes, but an entirely passive action to have performed; was up to the soil to make the most of it. With every punch, each heel stamped onto his toes, Simon knew what they were doing. What they were saying.
‘We have given you a gift in hopes you will take it and survive,’ They said, rammed into every bruise, every scrape, the cutting of his tooth into his lip, ‘Will you adapt or choke?’"

WELCOME ABOARD THE HAIL MARY.
“The Hail Mary?” The name reminded him of Eden. But Eden could only dream of this much light. This had to be heaven.
Before the robovoice said any more, footsteps thudded towards them. Simon crawled back. Why weren’t his legs working? He looked down and at least they were still there. Oh God, please be heaven and not hell.
A glowing figure threw the door open.
ELEVATED STRESS SIGNALS DETECTED. PLEASE BREATHE AT THE TONE.
His vision blurred again and he couldn’t even hear the chime this time, just strange musical notes. He could see the glowing figure dim into the shape of a man. No, no, this couldn’t be hell. After all, hell didn’t have angels.

Summary
The last five years living on Erid had been some of the happiest of Simon's life. He felt safe, happy, fulfilled, and had people he felt genuinely cared for him. Simon was sure that his perfect life was about to crumble when Rocky returned with another human. Where all Simon has ever known on Erid is compassion, his experience with humanity had rarely been so kind

Summary
"Grace! Grace!! Much noise in console!" Even through the radio Grace could hear alarms beeping and whistling in sudden protest, the ship itself groaning at a rapid change in- gravity??
Something was pulling on the ship- heck, something was pulling on him! It was suddenly hard to hold on as the unknown force tugged the entire rig forward. Looking around wildly, Grace’s stomach dropped from shock. Inky blackness spread out in front of him as far as he could see, void of any of the points of light he had been previously using to navigate.
The stars? Were the stars- gone??
-
In the darkness, something ancient and hungry is awake, moving between universes and eating the stars. Its unwilling champion, Simon, has been rescued from the hell of the SM-13 by an awkward blue-eyed angel who seems just as confused as he is. Now he's a prisoner aboard a ship full of the very microorganisms his new god seems to fear. Simon just wants to live. Grace and Rocky just want to make it to Erid. And somewhere out there, a desperate band of Consolidation operatives just want their black box back.
