“Oi, birdy. What are you doing, huh?” Dabi asks. There is no mocking tone in his voice like usual, but genuine curiosity.
Hawks blinks up at the villain, his hand still fisted in a blanket, hand clenching and unclenching in a soothing manner.
“What are you doing in my closet?” Dabi asks again, brow raised in question, fingertips tapping a slow rhythm against the wooden closet door.
And then Hawks looks up at the villain and then his surroundings and slowly realization creeps up on him, making his cheeks heat in embarrassment as he stutters through a half-baked explanation.

Summary
It took the teacher ten minutes to realize that Megumi wasn't in the classroom anymore, she was about to ask him a question when she frowned.
“...Megumi?”
No answer, she assumed he'd gone to the bathroom without asking, he usually does when it's noisy and crowded. Five more minutes passed. Still no Megumi. She checked the hallway and the bathroom, nothing. A knot formed in her stomach.
By the twenty-minute mark, the principal had gotten involved.
Or: Megumi is autistic and likes to hide in small, tight spaces. Every time the family thinks they can keep up with their son, Megumi proves them wrong.

A harmonious chatter breaks out among the children, students of the like eagerly whispering what they had planned for their present father on this special occasion. Quickly, fights break out among the classroom. Much to the teacher's dismay, over who had the best father, or who had the best gift. The only quiet child is the one in the far back corner, where the shadows seemed to sink a bit deeper.

Seeing the hero on the doorstep of his tiny flat was a surprise. Hawks acted weirdly, he was shivering, despite the abnormally hot evenings this summer. The wings looked terrible, and Hawks wasn’t wearing that yellow jacket as he usually did — he was in a tight t-shirt and held his hand to his stomach. Dabi caught his gaze, noticing the unnaturally wide pupils. The bird looked at him with wide eyes and Dabi could swear that he saw the genuine fear in his golden eyes.
“Sorry I- don’t know where else to go.”
