Summary
Charles doesn't know why he's stressing out so much about this. It's a normal question! He knows that. He's not digging after anything juicy or private. It's a perfectly innocent piece of information to want to know about your best friend!
Yet Charles genuinely thinks he would rather lick rust than ask Edwin Payne when his birthday is.

Summary
"Thing is," he begins, "I've been thinking."
Edwin's clearly biting back an automatic "careful" in response, bless him. Charles' lips tug up as if he hears it anyway.
"Seeing you, stepping out there in the way you have been. It's proper inspiring. And I reckon, if you can start to grow up after thirty years, then maybe I can too."
After a walk on Christmas Eve, Charles takes the first step into forever.

Summary
"I would be remiss if I did not explain further why I encouraged you to go with Death earlier," his new friend says.
"Yeah?" Charles fits a smile on his face and nods at the ghost. His fellow ghost, now. Edwin. He tried to get Charles to push off, and that has Charles a little nervous. But before that, Edwin said he wished they could be friends for longer, and he stayed with Charles all night, so he must like him at least a little. Charles can work with that. Everyone likes him eventually.
Everyone gets sick of him eventually as well, but before that, he can usually stretch things out a while.

Summary
The salty breeze and relaxing sound of waves calmly meeting the shore would surely put him in a near meditative state if it wasn’t for something nagging in the back of his brain, an image of someone that should be with him, someone very dear to him…
“Edwin…” His mouth says faster than his brain can conjure a full thought of it. The name is unearthed from the deep recess of Charles' soul, where it lies engraved in the foundation of who he is. It’s instinctive, to say it. He reckons he must do it quite often, for it to come from a place deeper than his conscious thought. But if he’s right, then where’s–
“Edwin?!”

Summary
There were a lot of reasons why Charles Rowland had changed schools. His suffering grades, constant reprimands over being out of dress code and the school’s growing suspicions about his home life were only some of the reasons why Charles’ mother enrolled him in boarding school for sixth form.
There was really only one problem… well two problems, maybe three.
------------
When Cricket-star Charles transfers to St. Hilarion's, he urgently needs a Latin tutor. Enter Edwin Payne, a language genius but not very popular. As the two become friends, the past rears its head in ugly ways. Can the two navigate such a new, odd-couple friendship in the face of their pasts? And what happens if that friendship starts to blossom into more?

"Need I remind you that I am nearly 125 years old myself? Forty is not old.”
“Yeah, but normally you’ve got that—you know,” Crystal gestures vaguely at him, “twink eternal thing going on. Very Twilight.” She looks him up and down. “Though I guess you’re sort of serving sexy, MILF-y librarian right now.”
