    Summary

The man crumpled up the paper in his hand rather dramatically. He met his eyes. Daniel didn’t expect to feel a strange rush when he did, but his unnaturally amber eyes stared into him in a way Daniel hadn’t expected. He had never seen eyes like his before, so captivating and piercing. After a few seconds of silence, Daniel realised the Frenchman was waiting for him to speak.

“Yeah, I recognise my own writing. Now, how did you-”

    “Why did you write this?”

    “Look, man, I-”

    “What didn’t you get?”

Paris. 1945. The young journalist Daniel Molloy gets more than he bargained for after leaving a bad review for a particular theatre.

Obviously, truth is stranger than fiction, and there’s always going to be edge cases in the real world, but for our purposes: just how realistic is Armand’s tragic backstory?

Judging by the number of retweets/reblogs on this post and others like it, fannish opinion seems to be “not very”. But honestly? It’s not that far-fetched.

Or: a fannish academic does a deep dive into the most controversial character in Daniel Molloy’s new novel.

Louis: Oh, so you've discovered Wikipedia then?

Lestat: A most valuable resource. I understand it is updated in real time?

    Louis: It is.

Lestat: The internet is truly miraculous.

Lestat: Although I am very curious as to why "hot bored moms in my neighborhood" would wish to get in contact with me.

“I have enough for a first session,” the boy confirms as he pulls out various different bills. “You can count them,” he assures Daniel as he offers him the money.

“... Look, kid,” he starts uneasily, fingers twitching with the desire to snatch the cash from this kid’s hands and bolt, “I don’t do kids. You need a special kind of therapist for that.”

“It is not a session for me,” the boy corrects. “It is for my friend.”

“... I still don’t treat kids,” Daniel reminds him.

“He is old,” the boy states concisely.

    “... Huh.”
